Best Time to Visit

Nestled in the Himalayas, Kausani is a beautiful hill station perched at an elevation of 1,890 m, which is best visited during the summer and the winter seasons. Though, blessed with pleasant weather all throughout the year, the tourists flock here at any time of the season. The temperature ranges here between -4°C to 27°C in a year, hence it is provided with the snowy scenery during winters.

Places To Visit

Rudradhari Falls and Caves

A location which is around 12 km away from Kausani on the Almora-Kausani road, is blessed with rich pasture land and rocky mountains through which the Rudradhari fall gushes with extreme force. Near to it, lies the sacred Someshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, and ancient caves waiting to be explored by the tourists.

Kausani Tea Estate

Adorning an elevated land of 1800 m altitude, the Kausani Tea Estate calls for a visit for the tourists who are both a tea and a nature lover. Baijnath Temples

Baijnath Temples, are the bunch of ancient temples sprawling at an altitude of 1126 m that are dedicated to Lord Shiva. This holy site by being placed on the banks of the river Gomti surrounded by exquisite scenery invokes peace in the heart and soul of the visitors.

Sumitranandan Pant Gallery

Kausani is the birthplace of a very popular poet and a legendary figure of modern Hindi literature; Sumitranandan Pant. To celebrate his fine art in the field of literature, a museum dedicated to him has been built at Kausani itself. The Sumitranandan Pant Gallery has a fine display of the holographs of his poems and a library containing the text copies of his entire literary works.

Pinnath

Just a 5 km trek from Kausani; Pinnath is the adventurer's paradise that comes with the delightful but foggy views of the green landscapes nourished by the Kosi river. Once reached the top, the Pinnath temple dedicated to Lord Bhairon impresses with its fascinating structure. The walls and doors of the temple carry the images of the Kings and Pandavas. The place seems enchanting during the fair held in October. Other than this, adventurers can also choose to go for some far away treks to Pindari Glacier, Kafni Glacier, and Sunderdhunga Glacier, that equally beautiful and tranquilizing.

Anasakti and Lakshmi Ashram

Anasakti Ashram situated not more than a kilometer away from Kausani, where Mahatma Gandhi had stayed for two weeks in the year 1929. Thus, got its another name as Gandhi Ashram. On his visit to Kausani, Mahatma Gandhi, who was mesmerised by its pristine beauty, called it 'The Switzerland of India'. Now this place has been converted into a study and research center, also providing the accommodation facility. The Ashram is also equipped with a Kitchen, library and a prayer room. Just 1 km away from Anasakti Ashram lies the Lakshmi Ashram, which is an educational institute for girls that's run on the principle of Gandhiji.

How To Reach

By Air

The nearest airport to Kausani is in Pantnagar, which is around 168 km away. There are flights available that ply between Delhi and Pantnagar daily. While, upon reaching the airport, one can opt for a public bus or can hire a private taxi to reach Kausani.

By Rail

To reach by train, one has to get down at the Kathgodam railway station which is the nearest railway station that is around 134 km away from Kausani. Prompt public transport and private taxis available at the station finally reach you to Kausani.

By Road

If you wish to travel by bus then board the state-run buses from Delhi that travel through Hapur, Moradabad, Ramnagar, Ranikhet to finally reach Kausani. Longer route buses are also available that take more time by switching to Rampur route. The option of private taxis is also available if you love to travel with comfort at your own demand.

Kausani is a hill station situated in Bageshwar district in the State of Uttarakhand, India. This beauteous hill queen is perched at an elevation of 1890 metres. It is advised to viist this place in winters to witness snowfall. Also Kausani is famous among tourist as Hill Station and Peace full Surroundings. Kausani is recommended destination for newly married couples. The pack season starts from late March till end of June, temperature drops to 2°C during winters. This place is transformed into snowy during the winters months of October to February. Visit this place during this period if you enjoy snow fall & cold climate.
